ALWS Awareness Week 2019

During the week of the 10th June, Good Shepherd Lutheran Primary School took part in many activities to recognise the Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) Awareness Week.

ALWS is the overseas aid and resettlement agency of the Lutheran Church of Australia.  The charity invites Lutheran families in Australia and New Zealand to reach out to people impacted by poverty, injustice and crisis.  They work together to support those who are impacted to build a better life for themselves and their families.

Each year, Good Shepherd takes part in ALWS Awareness Week to raise awareness of the needs of others, understand what it means to have compassion and demonstrate ways to support and care for those in need.

Our Senior students led a range of activities during the week to help raise fund for ALWS in Nepal.  The highlight of the week was the ALWS Market Day which consisted of small groups of Year 5 and Year 6 students creating a market stall and selling various items to the rest of the school.  Market stalls consisted of all the children’s favourites such as chocolates, lollies, donuts, slime, games, glitter and plenty more!

At the end of the day, the students raised over $3,000 which is an incredible effort.

Congratulations to all those involved and well done Good Shepherd!
